Arsenal Eye Defoe

With Nicklas Bendtner very likely to depart from the Emirates in the coming weeks, Arsene Wenger has now set his sighs on Tottenham Hotspur forward Jermain Defoe as an ideal replacement for the want-away Dane.

Jermain Defoe has endured a frustrating season after being outclassed by Rafael Van der Vaart and Peter Crouch for a place in the starting lineup due to a number of lacklustre performances.

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be willing to listen to offers for their £10million-rated striker – a statement which has pretty much caught the attention of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who has expressed his desperation in adding another world-class striker to his squad after year-after-year of disappointing seasons in the Barclays Premier League.

Inconsistency in finding the back of the net was one of the major problems Arsenal had last season as Robin Van Persie was the only one of the strikers who has really posed a genuine goal threat to their opponents.

Therefore, Arsene Wenger believes that the arrival of England star Jermain Defoe is the perfect way to solve his problem.
