Ajax Keeper To Join Arsenal? … or not?

Well, it looks like Maarten Stekelenburg seems to be already packing his bags for London, as his thumb injury from training a fortnight ago looks to have meant that he won’t get a farewell match for Ajax

The Holland star has kept an astounding record of 13 clean sheets in 26 games, (a 50% clean sheet ratio!), the Ajax ace has only one year left on his contract and according to rumours from sources on the Dutch side, Stekelenburg wants to move to the Emirates in the summer.

I have possibly played my last game for Ajax. If an offer from Arsenal arrives, I will leave.

Maarten Stekelenburg, Current Ajax Keeper

Juventus and Manchester United are also both thought to be interested in the talented keeper, with both seeking replacements for their aging goalkeepers, with Manchester United desperate to find someone who can take on the mantle of becoming the man who takes Van Der Sar’s gloves when he hangs them up,  and Juventus seeking to find someone to replace Italian legend, Gigi Buffon.

Stekelenburg could either replace Szczesny as the permanent fixture for the number one jersey for the gunners, or potentially playing second fiddle to the Polish youngster, as he has put in consistent displays for the London outfit before his finger injury. Coincidence: Both are currently nursing finger injuries.

I really hope he comes to Arsenal, hes a fantastic keeper

    • He is a fantastic goalkeeper. However, Arsenal do not need a goalkeeper, they need defenders, good defenders. That and the Arsenal fans not wanting Wenger out. The man has given Arsenal so much and deserves a little more faith from the fans and the so do the players.

These days AW drives MATCH-WINNING PLAYERS away from AFC. They know he’s n’t ambitious enough, and once they hit 30 they’ll be sold on. This is just the beginning. Just watch!!!
This fantastic keeper is going to go else where.
