Raul Meireles to Chelsea FC

In a stunning last 30 minutes of the summer transfer window, Raul Meireles submitted a transfer request to Liverpool and conjured up a move to Chelsea FC.

It’s becoming a bit of a habit, ain’t it? Liverpool FC players joining Chelsea. First it was Benayoun, then there was Fernando Torres, and now there is Meireles. The fact remains that Benayoun and Fernando Torres haven’t left their mark on the club at all. Benayoun leaving for Arsenal is testament to that, tossing him out and bringing Meireles to essentially replace him.

Joe Cole, OUT (albeit on loan). Christian Poulsen, OUT. Milan Jovanovic, OUT. Konchesky, OUT. Raul Meireles, OUT. Personally, I never thought that Meireles would have been leaving on transfer deadline day, despite the fact that we had enough men for cover in central midfield.

Unlike Fernando Torres ….

The May 29th Transfer Gossip: Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool FC

So, it’s May 29th and the day for the Champions League final! (at least here in Malaysia) And it also means another edition of our transfer gossip column

Arsenal BID for Blackburn defender?

Well, here’s some pretty surprising stuff here from the Daily Mail. They don’t claim that Arsenal are just considering or even pondering a move for Blackburn defender Chris Samba, instead they are claiming that Arsenal have already submitted an 8 million pound bid for the central defender.

Still wondering whether Arsene Wenger would want to lose 8 million pounds on a single player, not really something that we see very often, but would be a more than adequate replacement for the out-going French defender Sebastian Squilacci in the summer.

Aquilani set to move back to Liverpool FC

As Juventus finally announced the signing of Andrea Pirlo from AC Milan, the move has thrown the future of Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani in doubt, with the midfielder’s hopes for his ‘dream move’ to Juventus set to be demolished by the transfer signing of Pirlo.

Antonio Conte, Juventus’ new manager has confirmed that Alberto Aquilani did not feature in his plans to rebuild Juventus into a title challenger once more following the sacking of former manager Luigi Del Neri. The Daily Mail insists that Juventus will not make another bid for the Italian.

Chelsea up their bid for Neymar

Another Fernando Torres deal for Chelsea? We might have to wait and see, as Roman Abramovic has upped his interest in Brazilian forward Neymar by raising his bid of 19 million pounds to a mammoth 23 million pounds for the Brazilian International.

It remains to be seen if Neymar’s game will be suited to play in Europe let alone the Barclays Premier League, having no prior experience playing in a European club.

Roman is ready to get personally involved to clinch the signing of Neymar. He’s aiming to talk with him next month to prove how much he is wanted.

Announced: Ryan Giggs’ Super Injunction

It’s official, and it is in fact Ryan Giggs who has been the naught boy of the BPL as MP John Hemming has released a statement for the whole world to see. (and this time without the censor)

Hemming has parliamentary privilege to bypass the injunction. The BBC cannot be held liable for live events, especially when they come from the House Of Commons meaning that noone will come out of this getting sued in any way or matter.

So, what do you guys think of this?

We Say Goodbye to Blackpool and Birmingham

A hugely exciting last few minutes as Birmingham City and Blackpool were declared the teams who will go down to the Championship after an enthralling season.

The table doesn’t lie, and Wigan and Wolves can count themselves very lucky to have avoided relegation this time. Look at the results for the bottom 6:

Stoke 0-1 Wigan
Tottenham 2-1 Birmingham
Wolves 2-3 Blackburn
Manchester United 4-2 Blackpool

I didn’t put West Ham’s result there because it was kinda irrelevant. Personally, I’m going to miss Blackpool. They’ve been a wonderful team to watch throughout the course of the season and they absolutely gave it their all against Manchester United in their do-or-die match.

Birmingham can also be counted a little unlucky as Pavlyuchenko struck on the 90th minute for Tottenham, but it wouldn’t have made much of a difference, as should they have finished with a scoreline of 1-1, they still would have gone down, not thanks to points, not thanks to goal difference but instead because they have scored less goals than Wolves this season.

So we’re going to be seeing Roberto Martinez, Mick McCarthy and Blackburn’s Hoilet next season. So what do you guys think about it, they deserve it? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

Aston Villa vs Liverpool FC Final Day Preview and Predictions

An exciting season is about to come to a close today, and I will certainly miss watching football. So it looks like Dalglish might unleash some of his youngsters out at Villa Park today, with it being the final day.

A few stats:
-Liverpool succumbed to their first defeat under the Dalglish era against Tottenham last week.
-Jack Robinson became the youngest player to play for Liverpool’s first team on Matchday 38 last year. Same as today.
-Aston Villa will come in on a high after defeating Arsenal at the Emirates last week.
-Brad Friedel is set to make his 400th league appearance, being only the 21st to reach that milestone.

Aston Villa Team News

Aston Villa’s squad being at full fitness has perhaps come at the wrong time in the season, with the Villains having a full squad which is injury-free ahead of this encounter with Liverpool FC at Villa Park today. Ciaran Clark is all set to return after recovering from a hamstring performance.

Liverpool FC Team News

Liverpool FC have a mostly fit squad as they are most likely set to welcome Raul Meireles back to the squad following a hamstring injury for the Portuguese midfielder, but he’s still doubtful to play. Liverpool FC will also have their regular absentees, with Gerrard (groin), Aureilio and Kelly (hamstring), Jovanovic and Agger (knee) out in the stands for today.

My Prediction

It is yet to be seen whether Aston Villa can take their win against Arsenal last week to another over Liverpool today, but I simply think that Liverpool will be too strong for the villains and that Liverpool will manage a win today.

I’m also going for Suarez to score anytime in this game, and you can bet on it on bet365.com at 5/4

Score Prediction: 3-1

The Race For The Golden Boot: 21 Goals

We currently have a tie in the race for the golden boot, and both are in fact coming from the Manchester side of the Premier League

It’s Carlos Tevez vs Dimitar Berbatov

It’s Manchester City taking on Manchester United, it’s Argentina vs Bulgaria, it’s Bulldog vs flamingo (well, I don’t even know how else to describe Berbatov), and the season’s top scorers will battle it out for the honour to take home the golden boot on the crucial final day.

Tevez has the momentum here, scoring a brilliant brace against Stoke City yesterday, and perhaps giving himself a huge psychological advantage over Berbatov, whom hasn’t scored since last month against Fulham on the 9th of April.

Question though is whether Ferguson would seriously even want to play the Bulgarian for their final fixture of the season against Blackpool. He simply has looked brilliant in some matches, namely against Liverpool at Old Trafford, and has looked absolutely dodgy in many others.

Lack of work ethic, determination and sloppiness on the pitch are simply the reasons why Berbatov hasn’t turned into an absolute legend with Manchester United. Well, another interesting aspect of this head to head encounter is that both are rumoured to be potentially leaving in the summer, Tevez for personal reasons and Berbatov, the reason being that Manchester United don’t seem to need him anymore, having ‘Chicharito’ and Rooney forming a formidable partnership.

Manchester City are against Bolton should you guys like to know. So who do you guys think will come out tops? Will Manchester United rest ‘Wazza’ and their ‘Little Pea’ and let Berbatov play up front on his own? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
