Manchesters Want Sneijder

Manchester City have joined arch rivals Manchester United in a bid to lure Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder away from the Serie A league.

Both clubs have been strongly linked with a summer switch for the 2010 FIFA World Cup runner-up, and each club are capable of offering advantages over the other; but Sneijder has stated before that he could yet remain in Italy.

The Dutchman has confirmed that he will be flying to California where he will decide on his future and if he will join either 19-time English champions Manchester United, or neighbours Manchester City.

The Daily Mirror understands that the former Real Madrid man will be heading to California to meet his model wife Yolanthe as she is currently working on the American west coast, and there they will discuss whether a move to England would be desirable for the both of them.

(Manchester) United believe they are favourites to win the battle for the exciting Holland international who would be a direct on-field replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired last week.

Soren Lerby, Sneijder’s agent, met Sir Alex Ferguson at United’s team hotel in London in April before the Reds played West Ham. Ferguson has also turned his attentions to Tottenham’s Luca Modric after being made aware that City are ready to splash the cash for Sneijder.

Manchester City will be fancying their slight advantage in bringing Sneijder to Eastlands. Nigel de Jong, who has featured for the Netherlands a lot of times with Wesley Sneijder during international duties, is not only a close pal of the 27-year-old,  they actually came up through the Ajax academy at the same time many years back.
