Seriously, Why?: Michael Owen’s Contract Extention

Really don’t understand the recent move be Sir Alex Ferguson to hand Michael Owen a one year extension to his current contract with the Old Trafford outfit.

I seriously don’t know how many years the 31 year old has left before his expiration date, just 16 appearances under his belt this year and a mere 5 goals in return, but although it must be noted that Owen’s 16 appearances have mostly in fact come from the bench.

There was a lot of speculation to do with Owen’s future prior to this announcement by the club, with form and fitness repeatedly halting him from playing, however Owen has reiterated on numerous occasions his intentions of staying at the club and fighting for a place, hence perhaps winning that elusive contract for himself.

I’m delighted to have agreed a one-year extension to my contract

Well, if this is to prove a masterclass or simply a utterly waste-of-your-money deal is yet to be seen, but with the type of form that Hernandez and Rooney have been having, it’s definitely going to be hard to break into that Red Devil’s first team.

So good decision or bad decision? It’s your turn! Write down your thoughts in the comments section below!
