Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Carlo Ancelotti parted company with the club today (Sunday, 22 May).
Chelsea FC made a statement.
Fan views on this were mixed, with some saying that he was a pretty good manager and didn’t really deserve the sack, whilst others preferred that the Italian was booted out sooner rather than later. Ancelotti has won the double once with Chelsea during his first season in charge, as he managed the double of the Premier League and the FA Cup in a double for their 2009-2010 season. It was in fact their first double in their history.
So who now for Chelsea? That’s the question. There has been a lot of speculation about Porto’s hugely successful manager Villas-Boas potentially following Jose Mourinho’s path and moving to Chelsea, but those rumours have already been quashed as he is set to stay at the Dragao for at least another season.
But is this what Roman Abramovic would have wanted? Does this mean that it is him who has the say on what to do this coming transfer window? Ancelotti was certainly not impressed with him going behind his back and attempting to sign Brazilian center forward Neymar.
