In a reverse of recent transfer history, it is now Arsenal whom are interested in a Barcelona player. The player in question is Barcelona’s very own midfielder Ibrahim Afellay
The Daily Star Sunday (Spain) has reported that Pep Guardiola is prepared to let go of the Dutch flop after just 5 months with the Catalunya giants. Afellay moved to Barcelona from Dutch side PSV for a fee of 3 million pounds and his contract is set to expire in the summer.
The interest from the London giants has prompted a possible part exchange deal for the former Barcelona academy graduate Cesc Fabregas, although all doubts about that potential move were cast aside after an Arsenal insider stepped out and said:
Afellay is a young and gifted player but he won’t be part of a deal for Cesc going to Barca.

Afellay has found trying into a midfield boasting the likes of world beaters such as Andres Iniesta and their very own Xavi Hernandez to an uphill climb, so he is searching for more first team football elsewhere. To date, Afellay has only had 1 La Liga game to his name, and (wait for it) a grand total of 12 minutes of Champions League football to his name this season.
Wenger is set to bring him in to replace the likes of Rosicky and Diaby to add some added flair to their style of passing football.
