Barry to captain England

England manager Fabio Capello has announced Manchester City midfielder as the England captain when his side head into this Tuesday’s friendly fixture against Ghana.

The Italian unleashed newly-appointed captain John Terry when England faced Wales in their Euro 2012 qualifying match – which Terry was solid as he put up a decent performance throughout the game.

Meanwhile, Fabio Capello believes that Gareth Barry is the right man to skipper his side after allowing John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney and Michael Dawson to return to Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively as they will be having crucial games to play in the Champions League.

He’s a really good player, a good captain.

Despite allowing Tottenham defender Michael Dawson to return to White Hart Lane, Fabio Capello has remained Peter Crouch, Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe in his side after the trio did not feature against Wales.

In addition, Capello said that West Ham midfielder Scott Parker could keep his place in the starting line-up if he is able to pass fitness test.

If Parker is fit he will play.
