Jagielka to stay

Not going anywhere

All transfer rumours regarding Everton’s defender, Phil Jagielka, have been depleted as the 28-year-old has put pen to a new four-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2015.

He England international arrived at Goodison Park in 2007 from Sheffield United and has since been playing regularly for both his country and club – despite the fact that he failed to feature in the 2010 World Cup after falling behind Rio Ferdinand, Ledley King, John Terry and Jamie Carragher.

I had a little while left on my contract and it is obviously nice to get a new one

Phil Jagielka

Arsenal turned up to be the side that were very interested to bring Phil Jagielka to The Emirates as Arsene Wenger looks to solve his defensive crisis. Both of his centre backs Johan Djourou and Thomas Vermaelen are out for the rest of the season.
